When you care about something and share it with others, you become part of something bigger than yourself.
Recently I’ve been reflecting on how to spread the message about caring to others. So no wonder I fell in love with Operation Nice by Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls At The Party, an online network and community for girls and women to be their authentic selves. What a wonderful way to express how awesome it is to be a girl, show that you care, and be part of a group of people who feel the same way!
This week, Operation Nice launched a week-long birthday gift via Instagram for one of SGATP’s founders, Amy Poehler (Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation). The request was simple: take pictures of the daily theme and share them with Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls on Instagram.
The point was to share your awesomeness with Amy Poehler, and at the same time, your awesomeness would reach the entire community. Whoa.
So I’ve joined in and am reveling in seeing and reading what others have been posting. I’m awed and inspired by what girls and women have to share with each other in such a positive and loving way.
I encourage you to pick something you care about, take part in sharing your caring with others, and encourage others to join you. Just a reminder: you can care every day of the week for 365 days out of the year. Psst, it sorta gets cooler the more you do it.
